Winning Grind Continues
The grind continued for the Cobbers. Concordia continues to find ways to win, hold off opponents down the stretch and climb in the MIAC standings. On Wednesday, the Cobber refused to give up the lead in the fourth quarter against Macalester and walked away with a 64-59 win over the Scots.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/22/25)---The grind continued for the Cobbers. Concordia continues to find ways to win, hold off opponents down the stretch and climb in the MIAC standings.
On Wednesday, the Cobber refused to give up the lead in the fourth quarter against Macalester and walked away with a 64-59 win over the Scots.
It's the third single-digit victory for Concordia in the past four games as they move to 11-5 in all games. More importantly, the win was the fifth straight in conference play, getting the Cobbers to 6-3 in league play. That mark is good for a tie for third place in the MIAC standings. Less than two weeks ago, Concordia was in seventh place.

Like their previous games against St. Olaf and Carleton, Concordia led for over 30 minutes of play but could never break free from their opponent and had to work hard in the final 3 minutes to earn the win.
Against the Scots, the Cobbers led by eight points with under 8 minutes left in the game but watched as Macalester continued to make run after run to try and take the lead. Concordia had the answer each time and made key free throws to seal the victory.
The Scots were able to trim the margin all the way down to one point with 42 seconds remaining but senior guard Carlee Sieben was able to get to the foul line and convert on a pair of free throws. Macalester missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds, junior Molly Musland grabbed the all-important rebound and proceeded to kill off the game by making both of her free throws.
Concordia shot 39.0% (23-for-59) from the floor and 26.3% (5-for-19) from outside the arc. CC was nearly perfect from the foul line. They went 13-for-14 and finished with 10 more made free throws than the Scots.
The Cobbers were outrebounded 31-30 but held a 26-22 edge in points in the paint.
Sieben led Concordia with 16 points and six assists. The six helpers are a season-high in conference games for Sieben.
Forward Makayla Anderson was the only other Cobber with more than eight points. She was 6-for-12 from the floor and ended the game with 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Anderson also dropped a season-high five dimes on Macalester.
Jordyn Kahler was 4-for-4 from the free throw line and finished with eight points.
Concordia will step up in competition when they face No.8-ranked Gustavus on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.
