MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/22/25)---Concordia celebrated its four stellar seniors in a ceremony at halftime of their game with Carleton, and then the rest of the team honored the group by beating Carleton 68-58 to clinch a home game in the upcoming MIAC playoffs.
The win gives Concordia an 11-7 record to cap the conference regular season. That mark put them into a 3-way tie for fourth place, but CC owned the tiebreakers over St. Benedict and St. Mary's and will host the Bennies in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
The final regular-season home game hung in the balance until the start of the fourth quarter when they went on a 13-2 run that turned a nail-biting 5-point edge at 50-45 into a comfortable 16-point advantage at 63-47 with a little over 4 minutes remaining in the game.
Concordia outscored Carleton in all four quarters as they posted their 16th overall win of the season. CC will enter postseason play with a 16-9 mark. It is the third straight year that the Cobbers have won more than 15 games.
Concordia won the game on Saturday on the offensive glass. The Cobbers came away with a season-high 20 offensive rebounds and turned that into a 22-4 advantage in second-chance points. The 20 offensive boards are the most since they also came up with 20 in the fourth game of last season against Macalester.
Junior Molly Musland led the offensive board charge. She hauled in seven offensive rebounds and scored 10 points.
Senior Makayla Anderson matches Musland's rebound total but also went 7-for-13 from the floor and had 18 points. She also added a game-high five assists.
Fellow senior Carlee Sieben led the Cobbers with 19 points and dropped five 3-point field goals.
Concordia advances to the MIAC playoffs for the 19th time in program history. They host St. Benedict on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. The Cobbers swept the season series with the Bennies and have beaten CSB seven straight times.
