Cobber Women’s Basketball Earns Spot in D3hoops.com Top 25
Concordia-Moorhead women’s basketball earned national recognition this week as the Cobbers were ranked No. 25 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll for Week Five, the organization announced Monday.
After a dominant start to the season, Concordia claimed the 25th spot with 71 points and will look to continue climbing the national rankings as the year progresses.
The ranking marks the second straight season that the Cobbers have appeared in the D3hoops.com Top 25. They were ranked No.23 after beating Wis-Stout in the third game last year. Before then, the last time Concordia was in the Top 25 was in 2014.
The D3hoops.com Top 25 poll is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors and media members from across the country.
Concordia is off to a 10–1 overall record and a perfect 4–0 start in MIAC play. The 10-win start marks the program's fastest climb to double-digit victories since the 1988 Division III National Championship season. Additionally, the four-game winning streak to open conference play is the Cobbers' best since the 2023 season, when they began MIAC action 6–0 and went on to earn an NCAA Tournament berth.
The Cobbers join Bethel (No. 22) as the only two MIAC programs ranked in this week's poll. Concordia previously faced the Royals on Nov. 25, falling 52–44, and will look for redemption when the two teams meet again on Jan. 24.
Nationally, New York University, Scranton and UW–Oshkosh occupy the top three spots in the Week Five rankings.
While Concordia sits behind Bethel in the national poll, the Cobbers currently hold the No. 1 spot in the MIAC standings.
