Klause's Low MIAC Round Leads Cobbers
Junior Bailey Klause shot the lowest round in an MIAC Championship Meet in her career and led the Cobbers in the first round of the conference tournament.
BECKER, Minn. (9/28/19)---Bailey Klause used a bogey-free seven-hole stretch on the front 9 to record a first round score of 80 at the MIAC Championship Meet.
Klause led all Cobbers on Day 1 of the conference meet as Concordia shot a team total of 343 and is in seventh place. The 343 is a 16-shot improvement on their first round at last year's MIAC Meet and the lowest team score in a single round since the second round of the 2014 meet.
Klause had only two above-par scores on the front side as she shot a 39 and then came home in 41 with five pars in the final nine holes. Her final total of 80 places her in a tie for 13th place with two rounds to play. The 80 is Klause's lowest round at a conference meet. Her previous low score was an 86 in her freshman season.
Senior Katie Krueger was the team's No.2 finisher on the day. She birdied her first two holes and had a team-high three birdies on the day. She went out in 41 and then posted a 42 on the back side to fire an 83 which is good for a tie for 25th place. The 83 is Kreuger's second lowest total in an MIAC Championship Meet. She carded an 81 in the final round of last year's event.
Freshman Abbey Frauenholtz shot a team-low 38 on the final nine holes and carded a final score of 87 in her first conference championship round. Her 38 included five pars, a birdie and three bogeys.
Katie Froemke and Jenna Pauly were the team's No.4 and 5 golfers. Froemke shot a 93 and Pauly came home in 102. Froemke was consistent on both sides, going out in 46 and returning in 47. Pauly had a 48 on her opening 9 of the day.
