MIAC Meet Improvement
Concordia posted its best score at an MIAC Meet in five years and junior Bailey Klause has the best individual finish by a CC golfer since 2011.
BECKER, Minn. (9/30/19)---Concordia ended the MIAC Championship Meet by putting together their best score at a conference tournament in five years and junior Bailey Klause became the first Cobber golfer to finish in the Top 15 since 2011.
Concordia improved by one shot over their team total on Sunday and finished with a 3-day mark of 1044 (343-351-350) which was good for eighth place in the final team standings. Their final team score is 35 shots better than last year's score when they placed ninth and the lowest final team score at an MIAC Meet since the 2014 season.
Klause capped her career conference meet by matching her score from Day 1. She carded an 80 on Monday which gave her a total of 243 (80-83-80) which put her in a tie for 15th place in the final individual standings. Klause was only four shots out of the Top 10.
Klause's Top 15 finish at the MIAC Meet is the first for a Cobber since the 2011 season when Kristi Opatz also placed 15th at the conference tournament. It is also Klause's lowest score at the MIAC Meet in her three seasons in maroon and gold. She also led the team in her freshman season in 2017 when she carded a 262.
Freshman Abbey Frauenholtz capped out her first conference meet by shooting an 87. Frauenholtz was the team's No.2 finisher at 257 (87-83-87). Her total kept her inside the Top 40 as she finished in 32nd place.
Senior Katie Krueger closed out her conference career by placing right behind Frauenholtz. Krueger posted an 85 on Monday and finished with a total of 260 (83-92-85) which put her in a tie for 33rd place. Her final total matches her score from last year at the meet and is the lowest total at a conference tournament in her four seasons at Concordia.
Katie Froemke was the team's No.4 finisher for the tournament. She posted a 98 on Monday and finished with a total of 284 (93-93-98). Her total is nine shots better than last year and is her second lowest score at a MIAC Meet in her career as a Cobber.
Sophomore Jenna Pauly rounded out the tournament team for Concordia. She improved by seven shots from her total on Day 2 and finished at 335 (102-120-113) in her second career MIAC Meet.
