Leach Leads Cobbers At DIII Classic

HASTINGS, Minn. (9/19/21)---Concordia finished off their second meet of the season by placing 19th at the Division III Classic held at Emerald Greens GC in Hastings.

The Cobbers finished with a 2-day total of 715 (355-360) which is 29 shots better than the opening meet of the season where they carded a 744 (380-364) at the St. Benedict Invite.

Freshman Joss Leach led Concordia at the DIII Classic. She carded identical 87s for the 2-day tournament and posted a final total of 174. That is a huge improvement over her first collegiate tournament where she recorded a 191.

Sophomore Lillie Kirchner was in the team's Top 2 for the second straight meet. She posted an 86 on Saturday and then followed with an 89 to finish at 175 – one shot behind Leach.

Junior Abbey Frauenholtz was four shots behind Kirchner for the No.3 spot on the Cobbers. She opened with a 90 and then improved by one shot on Sunday to fire an 89 and end with a total of 179. Fraunholtz was the only CC player to improve on her Day 1 score on Day 2.

Ellie Johnson was the final member of the Cobber scoring team. She posted a 2-day total of 187 after starting with a 92 and then finishing with a 95.

UP NEXT: Concordia will look to continue their team improvement when they participate in the St. Catherine Fall Invite at Oak Glen GC in Stillwater on Sept. 25-26.
