Concordia junior forward Jerica Friese was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week after recording five points in the Cobbers’ weekend sweep at Finlandia.
Moorhead, Minn. (11/07/22)---Concordia junior forward Jerica Friese (Argusville, N.D./Fargo Shanley HS) was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week after recording five points in the Cobbers' weekend sweep at Finlandia.
It is the first conference weekly award for Friese who was playing in her first games of the season after suffering a minor injury in the team's exhibition game against Northland.
Friese becomes the first Cobber player to earn an MIAC Player of the Week honor in the Maureen Greiner era when goalie Andrea Klug captured the award in 2017.
Friese opener her season by collecting a pair of assists in Concordia's 8-0 victory in the series opener on Friday. She backed that performance up by scoring three goals, including the game-winning goal, in the 6-0 blanking on Saturday.
It was Friese's second career hat trick. She also scored three goals in Concordia's win over No.2-ranked Wis.-Eau Claire last season.
Friese's five points is currently tied for the team lead and she is tied for second in the MIAC in total points and goals scored. Friese now has 30 points in 30 career games played for Concordia.
