Concordia gave up the first three goals in their series opener at St. Mary’s and lost 3-1. The Cobbers outscored the playoff-bound Cardinals 1-0 in the final 28 minutes of play, but it was the first 22 minutes that cost CC as they fell behind 3-0.

Concordia allowed a pair of goals 40 seconds apart in the second half of the first period, could never recover, and lost 6-0 to No.3-ranked Gustavus.

Goal Streaks Go Against Cobbers In Series Opener

Concordia lost a game of goal streaks against Hamline in the series opener. The Cobbers scored two consecutive goals in the third period, but the Pipers countered with three goals in the first two periods and two more after Concordia’s streak and handed CC a 5-2 loss.

Morgan Sauvageau was one of six different Cobber players to score in their series at Northland. The teams split the two games in Ashland, Wis.

Like the pulled apart, dried-up wishbone from a Thanksgiving turkey, Concordia split its series with Northland in their final games of November. The Cobbers rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the opener on Tuesday and then allowed three of the final four goals on Wednesday and lost 5-3.

3 Questions, 3 Replies in Shootout Win

Concordia had all the answers in its 3-3 overtime shootout win with St. Catherine in the series finale. The Cobbers trailed by a single goal on three different occasions but were able to come up with the equalizer each time and finally claimed an extra point in the MIAC standings for the shootout win.

2-Goal Lead Disappears In Final 14 Minutes

It looked like Concordia was headed for its first conference win of the season in the series finale with St. Benedict. The Cobbers had a 2-goal lead with 15 minutes left in the third period but then surrendered two goals in the final 14 minutes of regulation, gave up the game-winner 8 seconds into the overtime period and lost 5-4.

It was a flood of firsts for Concordia and Dubuque in the season opener on Saturday. Concordia gave up the first goal of the game to first-year program Dubuque but then rattled off six straight scores to post a 6-1 in the season opener.
