Nelson And Huselid Sweep Player Of The Week Honors
Concordia was rewarded for its win against No.7-ranked Gustavus by sweeping the MIAC Player of the Week honors. Forward Anna Nelson was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week and goalie Abby Huselid earned MIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Moorhead, Minn. (11/24/25)---Concordia was rewarded for its win against No.7-ranked Gustavus by sweeping the MIAC Player of the Week honors.
Forward Anna Nelson (So., Fargo, N,D./Fargo North HS) was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week and goalie Abby Huselid (Fr., Elk River, Minn.) earned MIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
It is the first time in the history that Concordia has swept the Player of the Week awards and first time for both student-athletes to earn a conference weekly award.
Both players made huge contributions in the Cobbers' split with the nationally-ranked Gusties. Nelson had a goal in both games, while Huselid posted 89 saves on the weekend.
Nelson scored her first collegiate goal in Concordia's 3-2 win over Gustavus on Friday night. She also had an assist in the upset win. Nelson's goal in the win opened the scoring for CC and her assist helped the Cobbers take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.
Nelson finished off her 3-point weekend by scoring a shorthanded goal in Concordia's 3-2 loss on Saturday.
Huselid had one of the best games by a goalie in program history on Friday night as she stopped a season-high 50 shots. Her 50 saves was the fourth highest total for a single game in school history.
Huselid backed up her 50-save outing by turning aside 39 more on Saturday.
Huselid currently leads the MIAC in saves (174) and saves per game (34.8).
