Ruddy, Pribyl & Duke Pave The Way At Cobber Last Shot
Concordia hosted the first-ever Cobber Last Shot Invite and came away with a trio of weight-class winners and 11 Top 3 finishers. Aidan Ruddy, Zach Pribyl and Brody Duke led Concordia as they all claimed the titles in their weight class. Ruddy went 3-0 to win the 157-lb weight class, while Pribyl was a similar 3-0 at 174 and Duke went 4-0 at 184.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/8/25)---Concordia hosted the first-ever Cobber Last Shot Invite and came away with a trio of weight-class winners and 11 Top 3 finishers.
Aidan Ruddy, Zach Pribyl and Brody Duke led Concordia as they all claimed the titles in their weight class. Ruddy went 3-0 to win the 157-lb weight class, while Pribyl was a similar 3-0 at 174 and Duke went 4-0 at 184.
Duke's four victories were the second most by any Cobber on the day.
Ruddy started the day with a pin at the 1:12 mark over Mitchell Christen from Northland CTC. He then added a second bonus-point win in the semifinals when he recorded a 20-3 tech fall over Owen Carlson from St. John's. Ruddy had to grind out his bout in the title match. He posted a hard fought 2-1 win against Kris Castro from St. John's.
With the three wins, Ruddy is now 16-9 on the season. The 16 wins are the most in a single season for the junior.
Pribyl also came away with a pair of bonus-point wins to start his day. He went out and dropped a 16-1 tech fall victory against Dawson Gregg in the opener and backed that up with a 20-4 tech fall win over Andrew Johnson from St. John's. Pribyl finished off his title run with an 8-3 victory over teammate Isaiah Schmitz.
The championship is the first of the season for Pribyl at a multi-team invite and he ups his season record to 19-10. His 19 wins are also the most in a single season in his career.
Duke, a first-year wrestler, is starting to find his way after only joining the team in November due to his participation on the Cobber football team. Duke entered the week having lost nine of his past 10 matches but then posted a big win in the Cobbers' dual win over St. John's and returned to the mat to record four straight wins on Saturday.
Duke came away with three major decision wins to open his invite. He advanced to the finals after a forfeit and then earned his fourth major decision victory by claiming a 14-1 win over Qilee Jackson from Northland CTC.
Lance Fretwell, Jackson Marr, Schmitz Will Freking and Mason Swanson all recorded runner-up finishes at the meet.
Fretwell went 4-1 at 141, Marr was 3-1 at 149, Schmitz went 2-1 at 174 while Freking was 3-1 at 197 and Swanson posted a 3-1 record at 285.
Sophomore Sam Dioszeghy led the Cobbers in wins for the meet. He posted five victories on his way to finishing third at 285.

Concordia will close out is "regular season" by competing in a pair of dual meets on the road. The Cobbers will face Jamestown on Wednesday, Feb. 12 and then travel to Minneapolis to take on No.1-ranked Augsburg on Saturday, Feb. 15.
