Bonus Point Saturday

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (1/10/26)---It was bonus point Saturday for the Cobbers on Day 2 at the NWCA National Duals Meet. Concordia posted 13 bonus point wins in their two matches as they beat Albion (Mich.) and Olivet (Mich.).

The Cobbers won all six of their bouts against Albion via bonus point decisions on their way to a 32-13 victory. CC then dominated Olivet in the second matcha as they won eight matches, seven on the bonus point variety and went on to cruise to a 42-6 win.

The dual-meet wins are the first of the year for the Cobbers who move to 2-4 on the season.

Kie Anderson, Aidan Ruddy, Chris Acuna, Zach Pribyl and Will Freking all won two matches on the day with four of the five posting bonus point victories in both duals.

Mason Swanson continued his hot steak at the meet. He posted a pin in the opener against Albion and then sat out the match against Olivet.

Concordia 32, Albion (Mich.) 13
Concordia and Albion traded wins to open the first match of the day before the Cobbers rattled off victories in five of the final seven bouts to earn the 19-point win.

Anderson gave CC a 5-3 lead when he came through with a 17-0 tech fall at 133.

Concordia would fall behind 6-5 before Ruddy pinned his opponent in the third period at 6:03 to stake the Cobbers to an 11-6 lead – a lead which they would never relinquish.

Acuna followed Ruddy with a 19-4 tech fall at 157 which pushed the lead to 10 points at 16-6 and proved to be the match-winning decision.

Pribyl opened his bonus point account for the day with a 17-2 tech fall win at 165 before Freking and Swanson closed out the victory. Freking won by a tech fall at 197 and Swanson posted a pin in 1:25 at 285.

Swanson went 3-0 for the weekend meet and is now 7-3 on the season.

Concordia 42, Olivet (Mich.) 6
It was all maroon and white in the closer against Olivet as the Cobbers led from gun to wire.

Anderson earned a win by forfeit at 125 which started a run of six straight wins. After Pribyl posted a pin at 165, Concordia had built an insurmountable 32-0 lead.

Aiden Russell and Freking capped the victory with bonus point wins at 184 and 197. Russell won by a pin and Freking finished his 2-0 days with an 8-0 major decision.

Concordia will return to Minnesota for its next dual meet when they face St. John's in Collegeville on Friday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.
