First-Half Goals End Cobbers' Win Streak

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/21/24)---A pair of first-half ended Concordia's 4-game win streak at regionally-ranked Carleton. The Cobbers conceded a goal in the first 10 minutes of the half and the final 13 minutes of the period in a 2-0 loss.
Concordia falls for the first time since the opening weekend and moves to 5-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the MIAC. The Knights, who are ranked third in the latest USC Region IX rankings, remain unbeaten on the year and are now 7-0-1 in all games and 2-0-0 in league play.
The Cobbers gave up the first goal of the opening half at the 8:21 mark on a cross from the left wing. A Carleton player was able to get free and played the ball into the middle of the goal where a teammate knocked home the opener.
The second goal came after a corner kick and was scored at 32:23.
Concordia's best scoring chances came in the first half when they had four total shots and one on goal.
The Cobbers were outshot 19-4 for the game in total shots and 10-1 in shots on goal.
Kara Ellis led CC with two total shots and Emma Sheflo had the one shot on frame.
Kaitlin Petrich made eight saves for the Cobbers.
Concordia will have a full week before their next game when they play at Macalester on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
