Concordia gave up a pair of second-half goals, lost 2-0 at St. Olaf and finished one spot out of the race for the MIAC playoffs.
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (11/02/24)---Concordia gave up a pair of second-half goals and lost 2-0 at playoff-bound St. Olaf.
The loss knocks the Cobbers out of the conference tournament. CC finishes the year with a 4-6-1 record in the MIAC which was good for seventh place – two points off the sixth, and final, spot for the league playoffs. Concordia ends the 2024 season with an 8-7-1 overall mark. It marks the second consecutive season that the Cobber have finished with a winning record and eight overall wins.
Concordia's defense played solid throughout the first half and they were able to keep the Oles off the board. St. Olaf held a 13-3 edge in the first 45 minutes of play but didn't have many quality chances from inside the penalty area.
St. Olaf (13-2-3, 7-2-2 MIAC) scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 60th minute of play when a through ball beat the Cobber defense and an Ole attacker was able to score on a breakaway.
The Oles got the insurance goal at the 75:05 mark on a rebound goal after Concordia keeper Kaitlin Petrich was able to stop the initial shot but the rebound went right to an Ole attacker.
St. Olaf outshot the Cobbers 21-9 in total shots and 16-5 in shots on goal.
Concordia had five different players with one shot on goal. Emily Larsen, Chloe Sollom, Hallie Thompson, Maggie Barker and Hannah Mukhtar all had a single shot on frame for CC.
Petrich finished the afternoon with a career-high 14 saves.
