ST. PETER, Minn. (10/22/25)---A goal in the 51st minute of play proved to be the difference in the Cobbers' 1-0 loss at Gustavus.
It's the eighth time in the last nine games between the teams that the contest has been decided by one goal or ended in a tie.
The two teams battled through a scoreless first half which saw both teams having four corner kicks. The Gusties were able to get the game winner at 50:32 on a shot from the right wing that sailed just under the crossbar and into the far side netting.
Gustavus (7-5-4, 4-4-1 MIAC) held a 20-3 advantage in shots and a 9-1 margin in shots on goal.
Kara Ellis, Emma Sheflo and Hannah Mukhtar had the three shots for the Cobbers with Ellis posting the only shot on goal.
Concordia keeper Julia Roark made eight saves in the game and has 101 in her first collegiate season. That total is second in the MIAC this year. Roark has also stopped 76 shots in conference play which leads all goalies in the conference.
The Cobbers will continue its 2-game road trip when they play at St. Benedict on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 3:30 p.m.
