Cobbers Finish Off 2024 At Macalester
Concordia finished off the 2024 portion of its schedule by finishing fourth at the Roger Ahlman Invite hosted by Macalester. The Cobbers had seven Top 10 individual finishes in a meet that featured some of the top teams in the MIAC.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (12/7/24)---Concordia finished off the 2024 portion of its schedule by finishing fourth at the Roger Ahlman Invite hosted by Macalester.
The Cobbers had seven Top 10 individual finishes in a meet that featured some of the top teams in the MIAC.
Concordia finished the meet with 216 team points which was 77 points ahead of fourth-place Hamline.
Sophomore Callie Metsala posted a trio of Top 11 finishes while first-year athlete Leah Enedy came away with the highest finish of any Cobber swimmer at the meet.
Senior Kiernan Darling finished second on both diving events to secure 34 team points for Concordia.
Metsala placed 10th in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley. She clocked a time of 2:17.93 in the 200 IM which was a season best and jumps her into the Top 10 in the MIAC.
Metsala was also 11th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.72.
Enedy's Top 10 finish came in the 200-yard breaststroke where she touched the wall in a time of 2:37.44. That mark is a season best by 1.13 seconds and is No.10 in the MIAC this year.
Enedy was also 17th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.62.
Hailey Jaeger earned a Top 20 finish in the most competitive event of the meet. She placed 18th in a field of 50 swimmers in the 50-yard freestyle. Jaeger's finishing time was 26.25 which was a season-best mark.
Darling continues to improve in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events this season and she earned second-place finishes in both events as she served notice that she will be a factor at the MIAC Championship Meet.
Darling recorded a score of 344.15 over 11 dives in the 1-meter competition. That score is in the Top 5 of the MIAC this year.
Darling also finished second in the 3-meter with a mark of 338.0 points. Her score was almost 10 points clear of third place and is also in the Top 5 of the conference.
Concordia's top relay finish for the 2-day meet came in the 800-yard freestyle relay where the squad of Jaeger, Metsala, Enedy and Tinsley Porter swam a season-best time of 8:45.69.
The Cobbers also posted a season-best time in the 200-yard free relay when the same four swimmers posted a time of 1:47.15.
Concordia will take their annual training trip to Florida at the start of January and return to action when they participate in the MSU Moorhead Dragon Invite on Jan. 10-11.
