A Record-Setting MIAC Meet Opener
Concordia opened the 2025 conference meet by knocking off an 8-year-old school record in the 200-yard medley relay in one of the two relays contested on Day 1.
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (2/19/25)---If the final three days of the MIAC Championship Meet are anything like Wednesday night's opening session, the Cobbers are in for an exciting weekend at the University of Minnesota.
Concordia opened the 2025 conference meet by knocking off an 8-year-old school record in the 200-yard medley relay in one of the two relays contested on Day 1.
The Cobber quartet of Hailey Jaeger, Haley Imholte, Callie Metsala and Leah Enedy came through with a time of 1:53.17 in the 200-yard medley relay, the very first event of the meet, which broke the previous program record of 1:53.54 set in 2017 by Libby Hardwick, Ciara White, Ann Marie O'Connell and Sarah Nelson.
Jaeger opened the record-breaking relay by swimming a 28.02 in the 50-yard backstroke. Imholte followed with a 34.10 in the breaststroke and then Metsala raced to a time of 25.68 in the butterfly before Enedy sealed the deal with a mark of 25.37 in the freestyle.
Concordia's finishing time was good for seventh place in the event.
The Cobbers capped off Day 1 by posting a mark of season-best time of 8:42.09 in the 800-yard freestyle relay. That time is almost 6 seconds faster than the Concordia team came through with in last year's conference meet.
Metsala and Enedy were the only two athletes to compete in both relay events. Metsala swam the leadoff leg and touched the wall in 2:01.02. Enedy reprised her role from the medley relay and swam the anchor leg. She clocked a 2:05.72. Juniors Tinsley Porter and Christina Moore swam the two middle portions of the event. Porter was second in the pool and came home in 2:13.97 while Moore followed with a 2:21.38.
Concordia will kick off the individual portion of the MIAC Meet when they compete in the first preliminary heats on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 10:30 a.m.
