MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (2/22/25)---It was record-setting business as usual for the Cobbers on the final day of the MIAC Championship Meet.
Concordia put a new school record on the board for the fourth straight day as they capped off their best conference meet finish in 14 years.
The Cobbers used a school record from sophomore Callie Metsala and a first-ever podium finish from senior Kiernan Darling to come away with 178 team points and place seventh in the final team standings. The seventh-place finish is the highest since 2011 when they were also No.7 at the completion of the meet.
Metsala led the Cobber record crew as the team broke six different event marks during the meet and had nine different program-best times during the four days.
Metsala capped her career conference meet by breaking the school mark in the 100-yard freestyle. She posted a time of 53.57 in the prelims which qualified her for the "A" final and broke the old record set by teammate Hailey Jaeger in 2022. Metsala then dropped the record by .05 of a second when she swam a 53.52 in the finals. Her time was good for fifth place in the event – the second Top 5 finish of the meet for Metsala.
Darling saved the best for the diving event of her career. She recorded a score of 337.70 points in the prelims of the 1-meter competition which earned her the final spot in the finals. She claimed her spot in the night session by 10.05 points.
Darling nearly duplicated her point total in the finals. She came away with 337.60 points which got her into the No.8 spot and helped earn the Cobbers 11 team points. The 8th-place finish marked the first time that Darling had qualified for the finals and bettered her previous top finish at a MIAC Meet.
Jaeger nearly gave Concordia two swimmers in the finals in the 100-yard freestyle. She clocked a season-best time of 55.45 which was a mere .15 of a second from earning a spot in the "B" final.
Tinsley Porter, Estella Zwietelhofer, Leah Enedy and Haley Imholte all came through with career-best times in the prelims. Porter broke the 1:00.00 mark for the first time in her career and came away with a time of 59.49. Zweitelhofer's PR came in the 100 free as well where she finished with a mark of 1:06.89. Enedy and Imholte both posted personal best times in the 200-yard breaststroke. Enedy finished at 2:37.44 and Imholte touched the wall at 2:48.60.
Concordia finished off the 2025 conference meet by recording a time of 3:46.19 in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The crew of Jaeger, Metsala, Porter and Enedy were only 2.0 seconds off the 15-year-old record in the event.
