COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (3/28/26)---Senior NCAA Indoor Meet participant Emily Rengo made sure there would be no slow start to the outdoor season as she led the MIAC Indoor Champs at the St. Ben's Optimistic Meet in Collegeville.
Rengo won the 100-meter dash and the long jump and finished second in the 200 meters at the meet that didn't have team scores but featured athletes from 19 different NCAA Division I, II and III schools.
Rengo claimed three of Concordia's nine Top 3 finishes at the meet.
Rengo crossed the line in 12.50 in the 100 meters and won the race by .09 of a second in an event that had 29 participants. Rengo backed up her win in the 100 by finishing second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.42 which was the top DIII time at the meet and the No.2 mark in the conference this year.
Rengo then carried her success on the track into the long jump pit where she claimed the event win. Participating in her first long jump competition since her first year, Rengo came up with a mark of 17-11.00 and won the event by .25 of an inch. Rengo's distance is a career best and the second farthest in the conference.
Teammate Emma Warner, who also competed at the national indoor meet, was right behind Reno in the 200 meters. She clocked a 26.62 and placed third in the event.
The other Top 3 track finish came from Emma Norton, who ran a 59.63 in the 400 meters and finished third.
The outdoor season gave the Cobbers a chance to show off their javelin and discus crew, Junior Genevieve Gruba, fresh off a trip to the Elite 8 with the Concordia women's basketball team, placed second in the javelin with a distance of 123-00. The 2024 MIAC javelin champ is now in the No.1 spot in the conference this season.
Basketball teammate Ellie Welch was one of two Cobbers who placed in the Top 5 in the discus. Welch placed third with a mark of 121-10 and Chloe Mueffelmann was fifth at 119-00. The two distances pus Welch and Mueffelmann into the No.1 and 2 spots in the MIAC.
