MOORHEAD, Minn. (4/7/26)---Concordia made a clean sweep of the MIAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards as announced by the conference office.
Junior Abby Lovelace (Fargo, N.D./Fargo North HS) was named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week and sophomore Ashley Nelson (Rice, Minn./Sartell HS) earned MIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors.
It marks the first time that Concordia has swept the outdoor weekly honors since the MIAC went to separate track athletes of the week and field athletes of the week in 2014.
Lovelace and Nelson win the MIAC weekly awards for the first time in their careers and both athletes posted their award-winning marks at the Embry-Riddle Classic in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Lovelace claimed Field Athlete of the Week honors for her performance in the heptathlon. Competing in her first collegiate outdoor multi-event for the Cobbers, Lovelace posted a total score of 4,322 points which earned her second place in the event at the meet which featured NCAA Division I and II athletes.
Lovelace's final score is the top point total in the MIAC this season and eighth in all of NCAA Division III. Her score is also No.8 on the school's all-time list.
Nelson captured the award for her outstanding performance in the 5000 meters. She clocked a time of 18:15.02 in the 5000 meters to finish in fifth place in the race.
Nelson's time is a career best and the second-fastest in the MIAC this season. The mark is also the ninth best in program history and fastest by any Cobber since 2019.
