Two Weeks Of Training Pays Off
Concordia returned to action after a two-week break and finished seventh at the St. Olaf Invite.
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (9/22/18)----Concordia returned to action after a two-week break and finished seventh at the St. Olaf Invite. It was the third meet of the season for the Cobbers and in all three meets junior Kara Andersen has led the team in the individual results.
Andersen ran a time of 24:16 over the 6K course and finished in 22nd place. She was one of three CC runners to place in the top 40 in the overall standings at the meet as Concordia missed out on a Top 5 finish – and beating conference opponents St. Olaf and Macalester – by only eight points.
Andersen's finishing time was over a minute faster than her time from last year at the same meet when she finished in 92nd place.
Sophomore Merritt Miller and senior Brianna Gruenberg were the team's No.2 and No.3 runners at the meet. Miller jumped into the No.2 spot for the Cobbers for the first time this season. She clocked a 24:41 and was 35th. Gruenberg was right behind Miller and entered the chute eight seconds later with a finishing time of 24:49.
Tarja Nelson and Emily Rugloski rounded out the Concordia Top 5 in the team scoring. The pair finished within six seconds of one another and were together in the final standings. Nelson ran a time of 25:43 and Rugloski was close after at 25:48.
UP NEXT: Concordia will have another extended break to train for their next meet. The Cobbers will return to action on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Jamestown Invitational.
