Big Innings And 9-Day Break Cost Cobbers
A pair of big innings and a nine-day break cost Concordia against Jamestown. CC allowed two runs in first, three in the seventh and lost 6-0.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (3/31/15)—A pair of big innings and a nine-day break cost Concordia against Jamestown. The Cobbers allowed two runs in first, three in the seventh and lost 6-0 to the Jimmies.
Concordia was never able to get on track as they gave up a pair of runs without allowing a hit in the opening inning and lost for only the third time this season. CC is now 11-3 on the year while the Jimmies improve to .500 for the season and move to 11-11.
The opening inning set the tone for the game with Concordia going down 1-2-3 and then Jamestown scored twice without getting a hit. The Jimmies were aided by three walks and two hit batters in taking the two-run lead.
Concordia's first offensive threat came in the third inning when Erik Hiedeman and Devin Johnson singled with two outs but were unable to get the clutch hit. CC also had runners on first and second with no out in the fourth, but couldn't plate a run.
Jamestown was able to put the game out of reach in the seventh inning courtesy of a two-run homer over the short porch in right field.
The Cobbers had a pair of runners on base in the eighth inning and one more in the ninth but were held scoreless for the second time in the past three games. Concordia left eight runners on base in the game.
The Cobbers were outhit 7-4 in the game. Concordia had four players with a single hit. The top three hitters in the order all went 1-for-4. Johnson, Andrew Deters and Cody Rahman collected a single as did Hiedeman who went 1-for-3.
Phil Kuball had his 13-game hitting streak come to an end on Tuesday. The junior shortstop went 0-for-3 against the Jimmies.
Concordia used four pitchers in the game. Zack Nelson started the game and pitched the first four innings. Sam Mattson, Turner Storm and Mitch Boser also saw action in the nine-inning contest. Mattson pitched a scoreless fifth frame and allowed only one hit.
The Cobbers will now host their home opener when they square off against St. John's in the MIAC opener on Wednesday, Apr. 1 at 2:30 p.m.
