MOORHEAD, MINN. (9/20/25) — Concordia men's soccer left it all on the field, generating chance after chance, but the finishing touch never came in a hard-fought 2–0 loss at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Cobbers were on the front foot for much of the match, outshooting the Warriors 26–5 and forcing goalkeeper Dickson Phoon into nine saves. But Waldorf made the most of its early looks, striking in the 13th minute through Mohammed Maahiruzzaman and again in the 22nd when Ryder Tormaschy doubled the lead, both goals set up by Anthony Olivera.
Concordia nearly pulled one back late in the first half when Parker Gast stepped to the penalty spot, only to see his attempt denied by Phoon. The Cobbers kept pressing after the break with dangerous looks from Gannon Brooks, Dylan Hashbarger, and Johan Lizarraga. In the 86th minute, it looked like Isaac Stockert had finally broken through, but his rocket clanged off the top of the crossbar to keep the Cobbers off the board.
The physical tone of the game matched the energy on the field. Both teams were shown three yellow cards apiece as the intensity built with each passing minute.
Goalkeeper Jack Solheid gave Concordia a steady presence at the back, finishing with two saves, including a diving stop in the second half to keep Waldorf from extending the margin.
The Cobbers will look to turn their strong attacking play into goals when they return home next Saturday, Sept. 27, for a 1 p.m. matchup against Bethel.
