Senior Cooper Folkestad and first-year thrower Elijah Hayes earned USTFCCCA North All-Region honors for their performances in the shot put and javelin.
Senior Cooper Folkestad has an affinity for photography, specifically landscapes. The art major had a masterpiece of a performance recently at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Conference outdoor track and field championships.
Day 1 of the MIAC Championship Meet belonged to a pair of Cobber athletes on different ends of the collegiate spectrum – and both athletes used their final attempt on Friday to come away with event wins. Cooper Folkestad and Elijah Hayes waited until their sixth, and final, attempts to win the shot put and javelin.
Cooper Folkestad was named the MIAC Field Athlete of the Week after posting NCAA Division III Top 15 marks in both the shot put and discus at the NDSU Tune-Up Meet.
It was a good day for PR performances for the Cobbers at the windy NDSU Tune-Up Meet in Fargo. Concordia had numerous athletes record personal-best marks in the final competition before the MIAC Championship Meet.
The steeplechase and shot put crews led Concordia at the Hamline Invitational. The Cobbers had three athletes in each event post a Top 10 finish at the first full outdoor meet of the year. The two events were responsible for six of Concordia’s 16 Top 10 finishes at the meet.
Concordia seniors Cooper Folkestad and Wade Rhonemus capped off their indoor meet careers by earning NCAA Second Team All-American honors at the Division III National Indoor Meet.
Concordia seniors Cooper Folkestad (Wadena, Minn./Wadena Deer Creek HS) and Wade Rhonemus (Foley, Minn.) have been officially entered into the NCAA National Track and Field Indoor Championship Meet which will be held on Mar. 8-9 in Virginia Beach, Va.
Senior Cooper Folkestad and junior Peyton Johnsrud led the way for Concordia on Day 2 at the MIAC Indoor Championship. The two field athletes both posted event wins to help the Cobbers finish sixth in the final team standings. Concordia finished with 53.0 points.
Experience was served in the final competition before the MIAC Championship Meet. Concordia had a host of seniors and juniors put up marks on the school’s all-time list as the Cobbers finished in third place in the final team standings at the UND Tune-Up.
Senior Cooper Folkestad led the Cobbers at the SJU Invite by getting past his PR in the shot put and putting his name in the Top 12 of Division III.
It was another week of excellence for Cobber bookends Cooper Folkestad, Wade Rhonemus and Brady Goss. Seniors Folkestad and Rhonemus and freshman Goss all posted MIAC Top 3 marks and led Concordia at the NDSU Bison Open.
Concordia embarked on its first road trip of the season on Saturday and had a first-year runner post his second straight event win of the year.
Concordia opened its 2024 season by hosting the 83rd annual Cobber Open. Concordia had four student-athletes post individual event wins at the meet that featured competitors from NCAA Division I, II and NAIA schools.
Concordia senior Cooper Folkestad made a successful return to the shot put circle as he was named the MIAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after posting the top mark in the shot put in the MIAC at the NDSU Dakota Classic.
