Another Saturday, Another School Record
It was another record-setting Saturday for the Cobbers. For the second consecutive meet, Concordia had a field athlete break a long-standing school record. Tyler Evans cleared the bar in the pole vault at 15-02.75 which broke the old mark set in 2017.

Last week, Cooper Folkestad broke the school mark in the shot put that had stood since 1996. On Saturday, Tyler Evans brought down the school record in the pole vault which had stood since 2017.
Evans cleared the bar at 15-02.75 which broke the old school record of 15-01.50 which was held by Eli Beachy.
Evans' record-breaking performance highlighted a meet where the Cobbers posted three event wins and several runner-up finishes. Concordia placed third in the final team standings at the SJU Valentine's Day Classic with 143.5 points.
Tommy Schreiner and Folkestad claimed the other event victories for CC on the day. Schreiner posted a distance of 22-07.00 in the long jump, while Folkestad claimed the shot put tile with a mark of 59-01.50.
Schreiner's mark in the long jump is a season best and the No.2 distance in the MIAC this season.
Concordia also collected multiple high‑impact placements in the high jump. Sophomore Eli Hegland cleared 6-02.00 to take sixth place and lead the Cobbers' group, followed by junior Ben LePard in eighth place with a season-best height of 5-10.00.
In the triple jump, Eli Hegland recorded a season-best distance of 41-10.00 which was good for fifth place in the meet and is No.11 in the conference.
The throwing events brought even more success for the Cobbers. Folkestad dominated the shot put with his facility-record throw of 59‑01.50.
Junior Blake Houska had a pair of Top 5 finishes at the meet. He was fourth in the shot put at 47-05.00 and posted a second-place finish in the weight throw with a personal-best mark of 50-04.50. That distance is No.8 in the MIAC.
Senior Ricardo Ramirez gave the Cobbers two of the Top 4 finishers in the weight throw when he came through with a season-best distance of 45-09.00.
Concordia's other event win came in the 4x400-meter relay team of Brayden Carlson, Ryan Richardson, Joey Molstre and Michael Crowder ran a 3:26.64 and won the event by .20 of a second.
Concordia opened the sprint events with a strong showing in the 60‑meter dash, where senior Nolan Morical advanced to the finals and placed sixth in a tightly contested heat, clocking a 7.09 after a smooth 7.14 preliminary run. The momentum carried into the hurdles, where senior Logan Clark ran a season‑best 8.67 in the 60‑meter hurdle final to place fourth. First-year athlete Hayden Hauf finished fifth in the same race.
In the longer sprint events, Morical returned to deliver another standout performance in the 200 meters, finishing second in 22.97 for one of Concordia's top sprint results of the day. Merseth also had a season-best time in the 200 meters with a time of 23.96.
Carlson nearly claimed an event win in the 400 meters as he placed second with a finishing time of 50.87. Sophomore Ryan Richardson also delivered a season‑best performance, running 52.36.
The middle‑distance squad also found success. Junior Brady Andrews powered to a personal best in the 600 meters as he ran a 1:25.21 to finish as the runner‑up. His time lands him in the Top 15 of the conference.
Jayson Lemler had the other second-place finish for CC. He crossed the line in the 800 meters in a time of 2:15.60. That mark is a season best time.
Concordia packed the track in the 1000 meters, where sophomore Jonas Hagemeister led the group with a seventh‑place time of 2:41.63.
The Cobbers will return to the unique conversion portion of its schedule when they head back to Grand Forks to participate in the UND Tune-Up on Friday, Feb. 20.
