Hegland's High Jump Win Highlights Day 1 At MIAC Meet
Sophomore Eli Hegland led Concordia on the first full day of the MIAC Indoor Championship Meet. Hegland pulled off the upset in the high jump and won the event to give the Cobbers 10 teams points on Friday.

Hegland's event win in the high jump pushed Concordia into seventh place in the team standings. CC has 27 points which is only 1.5 points out of sixth place.
Hegland won his first conference championship by clearing 6-04.00 in the high jump. He
navigated the bar with only one miss through 6-02.75. He hit the bar on his first attempt at 6-04.00 but then went over cleanly on his second attempt to capture the win and secure the Cobbers' first event victory of the meet and 10 team points.
Concordia's scoring column also featured a podium performance from sophomore Tommy Schreiner in the long jump; he placed third at 22-05.00 to add six points to the team total.
On the track, junior Tyler Goss delivered a fifth-place finish in the 5000 meters in 15:13.79 to score four points, while sophomore Brayden Carlson nabbed eighth place in the 400 in 50.66 for a single point.
Concordia's distance medley relay—Brady Andrews, Weston Mahar, Jonas Hagemeister and Carter Ferber added another point with an eighth-place 11:03.00.
Junior Blake Houska scored team points in the weight throw as finished eighth with a distance of 49-02.50.
Joey Molstre capped the heptathlon on Friday. He placed fifth at 4,508 points to bank four more points His top marks in the event included 12-05.50 in the pole vault, 5-09.75 in the high jump and 8.26 in the 55-meter hurdles.
Hayden Hauf qualified for the finals in the 55-meter hurdles in his very first conference championship meet. He clocked an 8.01 in the prelims to qualify for the finals.
Additional Day 1 entrants included sophomore Ryan Richardson in the 400 (51.94), junior Nick Hasbargen in the long jump (20-10.50) and senior Ricky Ramirez in the weight throw (45-03.50.
Concordia will finish off the championship meet on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m. at Carleton.
