Anderson Named To D3hoops.com Team of the Week
Concordia sophomore forward Makayla Anderson was named to the D3hoops.com Division III Team of the Week after helping the Cobbers win both of their games at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/03/23)---Concordia sophomore forward Makayla Anderson (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck Century HS) was named to the D3hoops.com Division III Team of the Week after helping the Cobbers win both of their games at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.
It is the first time that Anderson has won the national weekly honor, and she becomes the first Cobber to receive the award since current Univ. of Minnesota-Duluth head coach Mandy Pearson earned the honor in the 2004-05 season.
Anderson, who was one of only five players to be named to the Team of the Week, averaged 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in Concordia's two wins in Las Vegas. She finished the weekend by being named the D3hoops.com Classic Most Outstanding Player.
Her biggest contribution came in the Cobbers' thrilling double overtime win over No.6-ranked Amherst. Anderson put up career-high numbers in the 79-68 win. She went 9-for-15 from the floor and finished with 23 points against the Mammoths. Anderson also grabbed 13 rebounds which included three offensive boards.
Anderson finished off the classic by scoring eight points and recording six rebounds in Concordia's blowout win over Salve Regina (R.I.).
For the season, Anderson is averaging 13.1 points per game and a team-high 9.6 rebounds per contest. She is currently second in the MIAC in total rebounds (86) and third in rpg. Anderson is also third in the conference in field goal percentage (49.5%).
Anderson will look to help Concordia continue its winning ways when they play at Carleton on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 7:15 p.m.
