Anderson Named MIAC Defensive Player Of The Week
Sophomore Makayla Anderson was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/09/23)---Sophomore Makayla Anderson (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck Century HS) was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Anderson averaged 8.3 rebounds and 1.75 steals per game in helping the Cobbers go 3-1 in their four games since the last MIAC Player of the Week awards were handed out.
Anderson averaged a team-high 14.3 points per game during that stretch.
Anderson becomes the first Cobber to receive a conference weekly award this season.
In addition to her statistical success, Anderson was also named the Most Outstanding Player at the D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas at the end of December. She helped Concordia beat No.6-ranked Amherst by posting career-high numbers in rebounds (13) and points (23).
Anderson currently leads the team in rebounds and is second in scoring this season. She is averaging 9.1 rebounds and 13.1 points over the team's 11 games this season. Her field goal percentage of 50.0% leads the team and is third in the MIAC.
