Beseman Named MIAC Offensive Player Of The Week
Senior guard Emily Beseman was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 22.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Cobbers’ two league road wins last week.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/16/23)---Senior guard Emily Beseman (Swanville, Minn./Swanville HS) was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 22.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the Cobbers' two league road wins last week.
It is the fourth straight season that Beseman has been honored with the MIAC Player of the Week award. She has won the conference weekly honor on five different occasions during her Concordia career.
Beseman is the second consecutive Cobber player to receive MIAC Player of the Week honors. Sophomore Makayla Anderson was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week last week.
Beseman started the week by scoring 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds in the Cobbers' 72-61 win at St. Benedict. She also had four assists and two steals.
Beseman saved her best for Concordia's game at Hamline, who entered the game in the Top 3 of the MIAC standings. Beseman went 5-for-9 from 3-point range against the Pipers and finished with a career-high 28 points. She added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in the team's 73-59 win.
Beseman also excelled at the free throw line where she was nearly perfect. She made 19 of her 20 foul shots in the two games. Her prowess at the line helped Concordia raises its team free throw percentage to 78.9% which is tops in the MIAC and second highest in NCAA Division III.
Beseman currently leads the Cobbers in scoring with a 13.8 ppg average. She is also second on the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and free throw percentage (84.1%).
Beseman will look to help the Cobbers continue their recent success streak when they play at Macalester on Monday, Jan. 16 at 7:15 p.m.
