Anderson Named To The CSC Academic All-District Team
Concordia sophomore Makayla Anderson was named to the Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), it was announced this week.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/22/23)---Concordia sophomore Makayla Anderson (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck Century HS) was named to the Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, as selected by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA), it was announced this week.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in the middle of March.
Anderson carries a 3.66 grade point average while majoring in Business Finance. As a member of the Cobber women's basketball team, Anderson led the squad in rebounds (8.2 rpg) and was third on the team in scoring (11.2 ppg). Her all-around ability helped Concordia earn its first MIAC playoff appearance since 2016.
Anderson ended the regular season by finishing second in the MIAC in rebounding and was fourth in field goal percentage. She shot 51.1% from the field in the team's 25 games this season.
Anderson's top point production of the year came in the Cobbers' thrilling win over No.6-ranked Amherst in Las Vegas. She was 9-for-15 from the field and ended the game with a career-high 23 points. Anderson's top board performance of the year was against Hamline on Jan. 14 when she vollected 15 rebounds.
