MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/14/23)---Kim Wagers capped off the stellar 2023 season by being named the D3hoops.com Region Coach of the Year.
Wagers, who completed her fourth season with Concordia, becomes the first Cobber head coach to earn D3hoops.com Coach of the Year honors since the organization first started handing out the award in 2006.
The award follows Wagers being named the MIAC Coach of the Year on Mar. 1. Wagers was honored along with student-athletes Makayla Anderson, Emily Beseman and Carlee Sieben who all earned MIAC All-Conference honors.
Wagers led the Cobbers in a breakout season that saw the team win 22 games and finish with a 22-5 overall record. The 22 wins were the most for a Concordia team since the 1990 season.
During the year, the Cobbers beat No.6-ranked Amherst on their way to winning the D3hhops.com Classic in Las Vegas.
In conference play, Concordia finished with an 18-4 mark, which was good for second place and the No.2 seed in the MIAC tournament. It was the highest league finish for Concordia since 2014, and the 18 MIAC victories are also the most since 2014.
The 22 wins doubled Wagers' career win total. She now has a 44-39 overall record during her time at Concordia.
