So Many Celebrations, So Little Time
Concordia celebrated its seniors at halftime of their one-sided win over Macalester and then celebrated with head coach Kim Wagers after the game who earned her 100th career victory.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/14/26)---So many celebrations, so little time.
That was the theme for the Cobbers' game against Macalester on Saturday. Concordia celebrated its seniors and their families at halftime and the celebrated head coach Kim Wagers' 100th career win after CC cruised to a 77-49 win over the Scots.
The celebrations don't stop there as the win was Concordia's 20th of the season which marked the third time in the past four seasons that CC has reached the 20-win plateau.
The victory also moved Concordia one step closer to the MIAC regular-season championship. The Cobbers are 14-2 in conference play and lead the conference by a full game with two games left in the regular season.
Wagers became only the fourth coach in Cobber women's basketball history to reach the 100-win milestone. She joins Collette Folstad, Duane Siverson and Jessica Rahman in the 100-win club.
The game between Concordia and Macalester had very little drama as the Cobbers scored the first 14 points in the game, built a 24-2 lead with 2:50 left in the opening period and finished the first quarter with a 28-4 advantage.
The Cobbers never let the Scots get to within 24 points for the final 30 minutes of play and held a 30-point edge for almost the entire fourth quarter.
Concordia finished the game by shooting 48.4% (31-for-64) from the floor and 38.1% (8-for-21) from outside the arc.
CC held a 46-30 edge in rebounding and 36-24 advantage in points in the paint.
The one-sided win allowed Wager to play 21 players in the game with 14 scoring at least one point.
Senior Leah Lenz scored the first two points in the game and finished with a season-high five points. She also added four rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore Maya Metcalf led all players with 17 points and also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
Molly Musland and Kaia Gack were the other two Cobbers that factored in double figures in scoring. Musland posted 12 points, while Gack came away with 11.
Concordia will look to secure at least a share of its first MIAC regular-season title since 2013 when they host St. Olaf on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at 5:15 p.m.
