Flaig Named MIAC Defensive Player Of The Week
Senior goalie Kiana Flaig (Roseau, Minn.) was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for her 82-save performance in the Cobbers’ split with second-place Augsburg over the weekend.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/06/23)----Senior goalie Kiana Flaig (Roseau, Minn.) was named the MIAC Defensive Player of the Week for her 82-save performance in the Cobbers' split with second-place Augsburg over the weekend.
Flaig becomes the second Concordia player to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors this season. Junior Jerica Friese was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 7.
Flaig's top performance of the weekend came in the second game of the series where she stopped all 41 shots she faced to help Concordia post a 2-0 win over the Auggies. She had several key saves throughout the game which included breakaways and point-blank saves.
Flaig also had 41 saves in the series opener on Friday which marks the third time this season she has stopped 41 shots in a single game. She ended the 2-game series by stopping 82 of the 85 shots she faced for a 96.5% save percentage.
Flaig lowered her season goals against average to 2.87 and now has a 91.3% save percentage for the year.
Flaig now has 1,635 saves for her career which is second on the school's all-time save list.
Flaig will look to continue her recent success when Concordia plays at No.2-ranked Gustavus on Feb. 10-11.
