Third-Period Quartet Closes Out Cobbers
Concordia conceded four goals in a span of six minutes midway through the third period and lost 5-0 at Hamline in the series opener. .
ST. PAUL, Minn. (2/7/25)---Concordia's series opener against Hamline was close until it wasn't. The Cobbers conceded four goals in a span of six minutes midway through the third period and lost 5-0.
The loss is only the second for Concordia in the past five Friday night games. CC is now 4-16-0 in all games and 3-10-0 in the MIAC. Hamline wins for the second time in the past three games and improves to 12-8-0 overall and 7-6-0 in league play.
Concordia trailed 1-0 heading into the third period and each team had 15 shots on goal. The game changed at the 9:38 mark when the Pipers scored their second goal of the game to push the score to 2-0. Hamline added a third goal 22 seconds later and made it 4-0 at 12:47. They finished off the 4-goal spree at 15:42.
The Cobbers were outshot 29-21 in the game. CC was led by Jerica Friese and Anna Nelson, who had three shots on goal each.
Senior goalie Ashlea Arvidson made 24 saves for the Cobbers.
Both teams were held off the board on the power play. Concordia went 0-for-4 with the extra skater and Hamline was 0-for-2.
The two teams will finish off the series on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
