MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/21/25) — Concordia used a 50-save performance from first-ytear goalie Abby Huselid to beat No.7-ranked Gustavus 3-2.
The Gusties opened the scoring at 6:55 of the first period, but Concordia responded with poise. At 11:56, Anna Nelson buried the equalizer off crisp passes from Kylie Huseth and Taylyn Cope, swinging momentum back toward the Cobber bench. Concordia seized control late in the frame when Lila Lanctot converted on the power play at 17:07, assisted by Nelson and Addie Moos, giving the Cobbers a 2–1 lead heading into intermission.
Midway through the second as Moos delivered what became the game-winning goal at 8:49, her second of the season, stretching the lead to 3–1. From there, the Cobbers leaned on a gritty defensive effort anchored by Huselid, who turned aside a barrage of Gustavus attempts and came up clutch during multiple extended Gustie pushes.
Concordia's penalty kill stood tall throughout the night, thwarting Gustavus' power-play opportunities and blocking shot after shot in front of Huselid. The Gusties trimmed the lead to one with a late strike at 18:46, but the Cobbers shut down the final 6-on-5 surge to seal the upset.
Huselid delivered an outstanding night with 50 saves, and combined with multi-point performances from Nelson and Moos, powered the Cobbers to the landmark result. The victory not only ends a long drought against one of Division III's powerhouse programs, but also signals a major momentum boost as Concordia moves deeper into conference play.
The Cobbers return to action tomorrow when they host the Gusties for game two of the series.
