MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/22/25)---Concordia had the score line reversed in its series finale with No.7-ranked Gustavus. On Friday, the Cobbers posted a 3-2 win over the Gusties but on Saturday the tables were turned and Concordia the 1-goal decision.
The loss gives the Cobbers the split in the series with nationally-ranked Gustavus. CC is now 1-5-0 in all games this season a 1-3-0 in conference play. The Gusties even their records at 3-3-0 and 2-2-0.
Concordia never had the lead in Game 2 of the series but tied the game midway through the second period of play. Gustavus opened the scoring in the final minute of the first period when they scored on their third power play of the opening 20 minutes.
The Gusties doubled their lead in the second minute of the second period with an even-strength goal at 1:30.
The Cobbers cut into the 2-goal deficit when senior Jaclyn Lloyd notched her first goal of the season at 9:51of the period.
Taylyn Cope dug the puck out from behind the Gustavus net and slid a backhand pass out to the front of the goal where Lloyd 1-timed the puck into the lower left corner of the net.
The assists was Cope's team-leading third of the season. Morgan Sauvageau was also credited with a helper on the play which tied her with Cope for tops on the team.
The game-tying goal was posted 2:50 after Lloyd's goal and came while CC was killing off another penalty.
Anna Nelson, who entered the weekend without a goal in her college career, notched her second goal in as many games when she beat a GAC defender to the puck at the blue line, chipped it past her into the neutral zone, raced in on a breakaway and beat Gustie goalie to the top right part of the net.
Nelson's goal at 12:31 tied the game and was the Cobbers' first shorthanded goal of the season and first since the 11th game of last season.
Allie Emineth picked up the assist on Nelson's shorthanded strike.
Gustavus wasted little time in coming up with the game winner. The tie score lasted 73 second before GAC scored on the same power play.
Neither team was able to post a goal in the third period. Concordia had the only power play in the final frame but was held without a shot for the 2-minute player advantage.
Gustavus held a 42-9 advantage in shots on goal for the game. Cobber first-year goalie Abby Huselid stopped 39 shots less than 24 hours after turning in a 50-save performance on Friday night.
The Gusties finished the game by going 2-for-6 on the power play while CC was 0-for-2.
Concordia will have a 2-week break before returning to action at St. Mary's on Dec. 5-6.
