Cobbs Host Annual Senior Day Celebration Game
Concordia hosted its annual Senior Celebration Day and lost to No.6-ranked Hamline. Taylyn Cope scored the lone goal for the Cobbers.
MOORHEAD, MIN. (2/7/26) - No.6-ranked Hamline showed why they are in the Top 10 of Division III as they dominated from start to finish, outshooting Concordia 40-18 and scoring nine goals in a decisive 9–1 victory over the Cobbers Friday night. Concordia got on the board early in the second period, but the Pipers responded with eight unanswered goals to secure the MIAC win.
Hamline controlled the pace early and skated to a 2–0 lead after the opening 20 minutes, outshooting Concordia 32–10 in the first period.
The Pipers opened the scoring at 2:14 when Annabel Mehta finished from in front of the net to give Hamline a 1–0 advantage. Hamline continued to apply sustained pressure throughout the frame, forcing Concordia goaltender Abby Huselid to see extended action in the defensive zone.
Concordia generated several early looks, including chances from Morgan Sauvageau and Taylor Severson, but was unable to convert. Hamline doubled its lead at 14:39 as Nina Thorson scored from the crease to make it 2–0. The Cobbers were whistled for one penalty midway through the period but successfully killed off the Hamline power play to head into the intermission down two.
Concordia struck quickly to open the second period, but Hamline responded with four unanswered goals to take a 5–1 lead into the second intermission.
Just 14 seconds into the frame, Taylyn Cope pulled the Cobbers within one, finishing a rebound chance in front of the net off assists from Jaclyn Lloyd and Allie Emineth. Hamline answered less than two minutes later as Mehta netted her second goal of the night to restore a two-goal cushion.
The Cobbers earned a power play shortly after but were unable to capitalize, and Hamline took control midway through the period. Goals from Ashlyn Abrahamson (unassisted) and Ellie Newpower extended the Pipers' lead to 5–1. Following Newpower's tally at the 8:10 mark, Concordia used its timeout and made a goaltending change, with Hailiee Bailey replacing Huselid.
Hamline continued to dominate in the third period, scoring four more goals to pull away and close out the contest.
The Cobbers generated early chances in the opening minutes of the frame but were unable to break through. Hamline made it 6–1 at 6:32 when Kaiya Sandy scored from in front of the net. Sandy added her second goal of the period midway through the third, and the Pipers followed with three more tallies over the final five minutes. Ella Rothe scored twice in a 27-second span late in the period, with Hamline closing out the game at 9–1.
