Cobbers Fall in Overtime Heartbreaker to Bethel
Concordia battled hard but fell in overtime to Bethel Royals women's ice hockey on Friday night.
ARDEN HILLS, Minn. (2/13/26) - Concordia battled hard but fell 2-1 in overtime to Bethel Royals women's ice hockey on Friday night.
Concordia struck first midway through the opening period on the power play. After drawing a tripping penalty, Addie Moos capitalized at the 6:36 mark, finishing a setup from Kylie Huseth to give the Cobbers a 1-0 lead. The goal marked Moos' 10th of the season and capped off a strong early push from the Cobbers.
Bethel applied steady pressure throughout the first period, but Cobber goaltender Abby Huselid stood tall, turning away multiple scoring chances to preserve the lead. Concordia successfully killed off a late first-period penalty to carry the one-goal advantage into the intermission.
The second period featured heavy back-and-forth action, with both teams generating opportunities but neither finding the back of the net. Huselid continued to anchor the Cobbers defensively, while Bethel's Ashley Gustafson Hess answered at the other end to keep it a 1-0 game heading into the third.
In the final frame, the Royals broke through at 13:24 with an even-strength goal from Rylen Kissell to tie the game at 1-1. Concordia pushed late, including several quality looks in the final minutes and a timeout with under a minute to play, but couldn't regain the lead in regulation.
Overtime saw chances on both sides before Bethel netted the sudden-death game-winner at 3:21 to secure the 2-1 victory.
Huselid delivered a strong performance between the pipes for Concordia, finishing with 44 saves.
The Cobbers return to play tomorrow for a 2:00 puck drop at Bethel.
