Cobbers Cap Season In St. Cloud
Concordia capped off its season by giving up three unanswered goals in the final 5:01 against St. Benedict and fell 3-2 in St. Cloud.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (2/21/26)---Concordia capped off its season by giving up three unanswered goals in the final 5:01 against St. Benedict and fell 3-2 in St. Cloud.
The loss ends the Cobbers' season with an 8-17-0 overall mark and a 5-13-0 record in conference play. The Bennies finish their regular season with a 14-7-4 mark in all games and a 9-6-3 record against league opponents.
Concordia jumped to a 2-goal lead with a pair of power play strikes in the final 6:30 of the first two periods.
Abbey Reule opened the scoring when she netted her second goal of the year at the 18:15 mark of the opening frame. The first of two Concordia power play goals was set up by Allie Emineth.
The Cobbers held a 1-0 lead heading to the first intermission and then doubled their lead when Taylyn Cope notched her team-leading 12th goal of the year at 13:54 of the middle stanza. The goal also gave Cope 21 points for the year which leads all CC players.
Siena Kropp and Morgan Sauvageau were credited with the assists on the PP goal. For Sauvageau it was her team-leading 12th helper of the year.
Concordia goalie Hailee Bailey held St. Ben's off the board for the first 54 minutes of the game but the game changed late in the final frame.
The contest swung in the Bennies favor at 14:59 mark of the final period when they cut the lead to 2-1 on an even-strength tally. They would tie the game less than a minute later and won the game with 43 seconds left in regulation after they pulled their goalie to go for the win and a better seed in the upcoming MIAC playoffs.
Concordia was outshot by a slim 27-24 margin in the game. Emineth, Kylie Huseth and Anna Nelson all had three shots to lead CC.
Bailey made 24 saves in her final game in goal for the Cobbers.
