Concordia battled league-leading Augsburg until the final whistle and lost 1-0 to the Auggies in the annual Senior Celebration game.

MOORHEAD, Minn. (10/21/17)---Concordia battled league-leading Augsburg until the final whistle and lost 1-0 to the Auggies in the annual Senior Celebration game.
The Cobbers gave up the lone goal of the game in the 29th minute of play and then held Augsburg off the board for the final 71 minutes of play. Unfortunately the Concordia offense could never find a rhythm and were shutout for the 10th time this season.
The loss ends a two-game unbeaten streak for the Cobbers and drops their overall record to 5-9-2. CC is now 2-7-0 in the MIAC. Augsburg wins for the third straight game and is now 11-3-1 in all games and 7-1-1 in league competition.
Concordia's best offensive output came just after the halftime break. The Cobbers put together a pair of corner kicks which led to a pair of shots. Senior Rachel Osmundson had one of her two shots in the game after a corner kick at the 55:25 mark. CC was then awarded its second consecutive corner seconds later and freshman Klara Beinhorn's shot sailed just wide.
Concordia was outshot 10-4 in the game. Osmundson led the Cobbers with two shots.
Junior goalie Maddy Reed turned aside four shots in the game.
DEFENSE CONTINUES TO SHINE: Concordia's defense had excelled all year long. The Cobbers have allowed more than one goal in five games this year. CC has a 1.06 goals against average this year which is sixth best in the MIAC. Last year Concordia had a 1.95 season GAA.
SEASON OF THE SHUTOUT CONTINUES: Saturday's game vs. Augsburg marked the 13th time that one of more team has been shutout in the Cobbers' game. CC has only played in three non-shutout games this year.
WHAT'S NEXT: Concordia will finish off the regular season when they host Bethel on Wednesday, Oct. 25 and then play at St. Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
