Cobbers Post Plethora Of MIAC Top 10 Marks At UND
Concordia finished off the month of January by posting a plethora of MIAC Top 10 marks in both the track and field events.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (1/31/26)---Concordia finished off the opening month of the indoor season by competing at the Bill Nye UND Open.
The meet features a 300-meter track which requires a doctorate in mathematics to convert any running events longer than 60 meters into a 200-meter track equivalent which is used for conference rankings and school records. But the same time posted in Grand Forks will be used by the NCAA national rankings since the national meet is run on a banked 300-meter track.
On Saturday, the Cobbers competed against a majority of NCAA Division I schools who were using the meet to practice at the complex that will host the Summit League championship meet and came away with a solid sampling of personal best and conference ranked marks.
Senior Emily Rengo was one of the featured athletes for Concordia as she posted MIAC Top 6 times in the 60-meter and 200 meters. Rengo clocked a 7.96 in the 60 meters which is No.6 in the conference this season. She also recorded the fourth fastest time in the 200 meters with a Bill Nye converted mark of 26.25.
The Cobber track athletes showed their depth and why they are one of the top teams in the MIAC by recording several other Top 10 conference times.
Senior Kyla Nygaard had her best meet of the young season as she had a season-best time in the 800 meters. Nygaard clocked a 2:18.86 (once again converted time using the track equivalent of the quadratic equation) and sits in the No.4 spot in the MIAC heading into February.
Teammate Londyn Ames was right behind Nygaard with a time of 2:33.17 which is No.7 in the conference.
First-year athlete Josie Brown went 59.58 which is sixth fastest in the MIAC, while Ashley Nelson crossed the line in the 3000 meters in a converted time of 10:35.81. That time is No.10 in the conference.
Sophomore Brynley Coleman rounded out the Top 1 MIAC marks with an actual time of 9.57 in the 60-meter hurdles which puts her tied for ninth in the conference.
Coleman also earned a spot in the MIAC Top 10 in the pole vault when she cleared 10-05.25.
The Cobber 4x400-meter relay team of Rengo, Brown, Nygaard and Lauren Pearson came through with the fastest time in the MIAC this year when they bolted to a mark of 4:00.95.
Besides Coleman's mark in the pole vault, Concordia had four other field athletes climb their way into the conference Top 10.
Senior Piper Osborne posted the fourth farthest distance in the triple jump when she posted 35-02.00 on her third attempt of the competition.
Lauren Selle got over the bar at 5-01.25 in the high jump and sits in the No.5 spot.
Sophomore Chloe Mueffelmann led the CC throwers with a distance of 40-08.75 in the shot put. That mark is good for the No.4 spot in the MIAC.
Concordia will head back to a normal track size when they compete in the NDSU Bison Open and Multi-Event on Feb. 6-7.
