Johnson Caps Season With Dramatic Long-Range Shot

Concordia guard Matthew Johnson sank a 3-point shot to lift Cobbers to victory in final game of regular season over the weekend.

Senior David Birkeland, and his parents Lana and Jon, were  honored before the Cobbers' dramatic, last-second win over Hamline.
A Last-Second, Senior Sendoff

Matt Johnson hit a 40-foot 3-pointer with .08 of a second left in the second half to give Concordia a 68-65 win over Hamline and send lone senior David Birkeland out on a winning note.

Playoff Road Reaches A Dead End

Concordia’s road to the MIAC playoffs reached a dead end in the second half against regular-season champion Carleton. The Cobbers were outscored 47-24 in the final 20 minutes of play to fall out of contention for one of the six spots in the conference tournament.

Drive For The Playoffs Reaches High Gear

Concordia’s drive for the MIAC playoffs is now officially in high gear. The Cobbers outscored St. Scholastica in each half, led for all but 1:22 and rolled to an 81-67 win at home.

Perseverance Pays Off In St. Peter

Concordia erased leads in both the halves in St. Peter, went on an 8-0 run midway through the second stanza and came away with a 61-57 win against Gustavus.

The Tide Has Turned

Concordia led for 37:18 of the 40-minutes in their game with Macalester, knocked down key free throws in the final minutes to survive a late 1-man flurry and beat Macalester 83-78.

Horseshoe Hits The Ringer

This time the horseshoe didn’t land in the pit and come oh so close. On Monday, the Cobbers threw a dead-on ringer and beat St. John’s 81-76.

Story Remains The Same

The story remained the same for the Cobbers as they were close down the stretch, but couldn’t come up with a go-ahead basket and fell by fewer than six points.

Jackson Jangula didn’t miss a shot in the Cobbers' game at St. Olaf. He went 7-for-7 from the floor, 2-for-2 from distance and 1-for-1 from FT.
Another Cobber Close Call

Concordia was perfect from the free throw line but it wasn’t enough as they dropped another close decision. The Cobbers lost 73-67 at St. Olaf on Wednesday to add to their list of close defeats.

Second-Half Comeback Comes Up Just Short In Winona

Concordia staged a second-half comeback at St. Mary’s, took a 1-point lead late in the game but then had the Cardinals make six of their seven free throws down the stretch and lost 85-81.

Cobbers Drop First Home Game Of 2023

Concordia was outscored 19-8 in the final 9-minutes of its conference game with Augsburg ad fell 71-66 in the first home game of the 2023 calendar year.

Final Four In The First Half Foils Cobbers At Macalester

Concordia outscored Macalester 56-46 for 36 of the 40 minutes in their MIAC game on Monday, but it was the stretch of 4-minutes at the end that proved to be the difference.

Concordia led for all but 4-minutes in their game at Hamline. They held off a late charge from the Pipers to post a key 65-60 road win.

Concordia held off a late-charging Hamline team and posted a 65-60 win in St. Paul. The Cobbers, who had close calls at the end of their last two games, used that experience to keep the Pipers from passing CC at the wire.

For the second straight game, Concordia battled all the way to the wire, only to be edged out by a score line of 70-63 on the road at one of the conference leaders.

Dylan Inniger scored eight of his team-high 13 points in the second half in the Cobbers' game at Carleton. He also led the team with six rebounds.
