MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/15/25)--- Concordia was one period away from coming home with a Wisconsin sweep over their two games on the weekend.
The Cobbers outscored Wis.-River Falls 1-0 in the first and third periods, but a 2-goal second frame by the Falcons sent Concordia to a 2-1 loss.
Concordia, who beat Wis.-Eau Claire on Friday, is now 2-3-1 on the season, while River Falls, who was in the "others receiving votes" category in this week's USCHO national rankings, up their record to 4-2-0 for the year.
The Cobbers scored the only goal of the first period when Matthew Hard jammed home a 1-timer from on top of the crease after Patrick Dunaiski kept the puck in at the point, skated behind the UWRF net and made a centering pass to the front of the goal.
Hard's goal at 11:56 was his first of the season and third in the last two seasons. Dunaiski and Ryan Roethke were credited with the helpers. It was Dunaiski's second of the year and for Roethke it was his first collegiate assist.
The Cobbers held the Falcons off the board for the final 9-minutes of the first period and first two minutes of the middle period. River Falls was able to tie the game at the 2:59 mark and the game would stay tied until the final two minutes of the period.
River Falls came up with the game-winning goal after a stretch pass found a Falcon's forward on the left wing and he was able to find the lower right corner from the top of the left faceoff circle.
Despite giving up the two goals in the second period, CC was only outshot 13-12 for the 20 minutes of play.
Concordia held a 9-8 edge in shots in the third period but could never come up with the equalizer.
The Falcons held a 38-30 edge in shots on goal for the game.
Neither team scored on the power play with only four combine chances. CC was 0-for-3 and UWRF was held scoreless in their only attempt.
First-year goalie Noel Olsonawski made his second straight start of the weekend and turned aside 36 of the 38 shots he faced.
The Cobbers will stay on the road when they return to conference play. CC will face Gustavus in St. Peter on Friday, Nov. 21 and Saturday, Nov. 22.
