Saint Peter, Minn. (11/22/25) – Concordia fell 2–0 to Gustavus on Saturday despite a strong defensive effort and an impressive performance from goaltender Noel Olsonawski, who turned away a heavy workload and kept the Cobbers in the game throughout.
Both teams opened with a fast pace and physical play, and the Cobbers controlled the faceoff circle early. Olsonawski was sharp from the start, stopping multiple Gustavus chances in the first minutes and carrying Concordia to a scoreless first intermission.
The second period saw momentum swing back and forth. The Cobbers nearly struck first when Carson Triggs hit the pipe on a power play, but Gustavus eventually broke through with a power-play goal from Charlie Sandven to take a 1–0 lead.
Concordia pushed in the third, generating late looks from Talan Plante and Zak Kennett, and pulled Olsonawski in the final minutes to make one last push. Gustavus sealed the game with an empty-net goal in the closing minute.
Olsonawski finished the night with 38 saves, anchoring a strong defensive showing that kept the Cobbers within striking distance.
Concordia returns to action on Tuesday, November 25, when they host the Hamline Pipers for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
