Skime And Harguindeguy Continue Scoring Tear In OT Win At St. Olaf
Tucker Skime scored the game winner in overtime and he team with senior Joe Harguindeguy to post two goals and three assists in Concordia's 3-2 win at St. Olaf.
NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/23/26)---A Tucker Skime laser wrist shot in overtime finished off the Cobbers' comeback at St. Olaf.
Concordia trailed the Oles 1-0 and 2-1 before scoring the final two goals of the game on their way to the 3-2 victory in the extra period.
The win is the fourth straight, and second in overtime in the past four games, for the Cobbers who are now 8-7-2 in all games and 4-4-1 in conference play. The two points earned via the overtime win push CC into sole possession of fourth place in the league standings.
The loss is only the fourth of the year for the Oles and second in league play. They are now 7-4-5 overall and 3-3-2 in the MIAC.
Skime and senior teammate Joe Harguindeguy are battling it out for the hottest Concordia player right now. The pair accounted for two goals and three assists on the night.
Skime had a goal and two assists in the game and has six points in the last four games, while Harguindeguy added another goal and an assist against the Oles. He has scored six goals in the last five games and has a total of seven points over that stretch.
Concordia held a decided edge in shots on goal for the game (37-22) but fell behind early when they conceded a goal in the third minute of the opening period.
Senior Caden Triggs tied the game for the first time when he netted his seventh goal of the year at the 12:41 mark. The power pair of Harguindeguy and Skime set up the score.
St. Olaf (7-4-5, 3-2-2 MIAC) retook the lead at 15:35 and sent the game into the first intermission with the 2-1 score line.
Harguindeguy came through with the only goal of the second period. He tied the game at 2-2 only 1:27 before the second break. Skime won the draw from the right faceoff circle and dropped the puck back to Zach Stoner at the point. Stoner made the heads up play to shoot the puck off the back wall and play for the carom. Harguindeguy controlled the puck on the red line and then fired the short angle shot past the Ole netminder.
The game-tying goal was Harguindeguy's team-leading ninth of the season and sixth in the last five games.
The teams skated through a scoreless third period before Skime won it with 1:37 left in overtime.
He took possession of the puck in the neutral zone skated into the St. Olaf zone, cut to his left and let Will Hofer cut to the net to set up a screen. Skime then let go with a laser wrist shot from the top of the faceoff circles that screamed under the crossbar and hit the water bottle.
The goal was Skime's team-leading second game winner of the season. He also assisted on CC's most recent OT winner against Wis.-Stout.
Harguindeguy led all players with eight shots on goal.
First-year goalie Noel Olsonawski turned aside 20 shots to pick up his fifth win of the season. He is now 3-0-0 in his last three starts and continues to lead the MIAC in goals against average (1.61) and save percentage (94.2%).
The two teams will finish off their series tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the St. Olaf Ice Arena in Northfield.
