Skime’s Two Goals Power Cobbers to 5–2 Road Win at Hamline
Behind two goals from Tucker Skime, Concordia skated past Hamline 5–2 on Friday night, using a three-goal first period to secure a road MIAC win. The Cobbers improved to 10-8-1 overall and 5-5-1 in conference play.
SAINT PAUL, MINN (2/6/26) – Behind two goals from Tucker Skime, Concordia skated past Hamline 5–2 on Friday night, using a three-goal first period to secure a road MIAC win. The Cobbers improved to 10-8-1 overall and 5-5-1 in conference play.
Concordia jumped out to a fast start, building a 3–0 lead after one period of play. Joe Harguindeguy opened the scoring at the 2:48 mark with an even-strength goal, assisted by Caden and Carson Triggs. The Cobbers doubled their lead midway through the period when Ben Luedtke scored at 4:13 off a setup from Ryan Roethke.
Late in the opening frame, Skime made it 3–0 at 19:29 with an even-strength goal, with Luedtke earning the assist. Goaltender Noel Olsonawski was strong in net, stopping all 14 Hamline shots in the period, including several key saves during a late Pipers power play.
Hamline got on the board early in the second period when Calvin Knight scored at 3:23 to cut the deficit to 3–1. Concordia responded with sustained offensive pressure and capitalized on the power play at 15:37, as Skime netted his second goal of the night off an assist from Harguindeguy to restore a three-goal lead at 4–1.
The third period was physical, featuring 11 total penalties between the two teams. Hamline pulled within two at 10:36 with a power-play goal from Dom Thomas, making it 4–2. The Cobbers sealed the win late when Caden Triggs scored an even-strength goal at 18:41, assisted by Zach Stoner, to push the lead back to three.
Olsonawski closed out the game with key saves down the stretch, finishing the night with 26 stops.
Skime led Concordia with two goals, while Harguindeguy, Luedtke, and Triggs each recorded a goal and an assist.
The Cobbers return to action for game two of the series against Hamline on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
