Gagnon And Wright Earn USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/08/23)---Concordia seniors Hayden Gagnon (South Haven, Minn.) and Cal Wright (Mora, Minn.) were both named to the USTFCCCA North All-Region Indoor Track & Field Team for finishing in the Top 5 in an event in the region for the indoor season.

Both athletes earned their All-Region award in the 400 meters.

It is the first All-Region honor for Gagnon, while Wright makes it a quartet of All-Region honors in the 400 meters. He was named to the All-Region Team last season on his way to earning All-American honors in the 400 at the NCAA Championship Meet. Wright also earned All-Region honors as part of the 4x400-meter relay team last year, and captured the award as a freshman in the 400 in 2019.  

Gagnon posted his All-Region time in the very last meet of the season. He uncorked a 48.98 at the Wartburg Qualifier last weekend which helped him qualify for this year's DIII National Meet.         

Wright's All-Region performance was turned in at the St. John's Invitational when he ran a 49.23. Wright became the hard luck story of the indoor season when he was injured after being run over by an athlete from St. John's after the completion of the 200 meters at the MIAC Championship Meet. He was then unable to compete at the Wartburg Qualifier.

Gagnon will compete in his very first individual event at a national meet when he steps to the starting line for the prelims of the 400 meters on Friday, Mar. 10 at 3:05 p.m. (cst).
