Goal Streak Comes To An End In Season Finale
Concordia’s streak of 5-goal games came to an end in the final game of the regular season. The Cobbers gave up three unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes of play against St. Benedict and lost 5-2.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (2/22/25)---Concordia's streak of 5-goal games came to an end in the final game of the regular season. The Cobbers gave up three unanswered goals in the final 30 minutes of play against St. Benedict and lost 5-2.
The loss also snapped the Cobbers' 3-game win streak and gives CC a 7-18-0 overall record for the year with a 6-12-0 mark in conference play. The six wins in the MIAC are the most since the 2020 season.
Concordia got off to the perfect start in the second game of the series against the Bennies when they scored in the first minute of play. Junior Memphis Mertens netted her sixth goal of the season at the 40-second mark after she finished off a series from Taylyn Cope and Morgan Sauvageau.
St. Benedict (12-10-3, 9-8-1 MIAC) tied the game midway through the opening period and took a 2-1 lead with 1:40 remaining in the first frame.
The Cobbers got a second early-period goal to start the second stanza as Camryn Iverson scored at the 3:43 mark. The goal was Iverson's second of the season with Keira Borreson earning the assist.
The Bennies got the eventual game-winning goal at 10:39 of the second period and the game went back and forth for the remainder of the second and start of the third until CSB picked up the insurance strike at 10:44 of the third. The Bennies would add an empty-net goal with 19 seconds left to bring the final score to 5-2.
Concordia was outshot 30-25 in the game with Sauvageau recording a team-high four shots on goal.
Senior Ashlea Arvidson made 25 saves in the final game of the 2025 season.
