MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/1/25) — The Concordia women's hockey team battled hard but came up short in a 2-0 loss to Wis.-Eau Claire on Saturday at the Moorhead Sports Center.
The Cobbers were competitive throughout, generating several scoring opportunities but couldn't break through against a strong Blugold defense and goaltending effort.
Junior Abby Huselid was steady in net for Concordia, making several key stops to keep the game close. She finished with 22 saves on 23 shots, allowing just one goal. Offensively, Memphis Mertens and Taylyn Cope led the Cobbers with three shots on goal apiece. Concordia totaled 24 shots, including 13 on net, while Eau-Claire registered 35 shots with 24 on goal. Despite multiple power-play chances, the Cobbers were unable to convert.
The Blugolds broke the scoreless tie midway through the third period when Kenzie Keller scored at even strength, assisted by Jordan Hancock. With the Cobbers pressing late and an empty net, Ava Bullert added an insurance goal in the final minute to secure the win for Eau Claire.
Concordia will look to bounce back when it returns to action against Augsburg on Nov. 14.
