Cobbers Complete 3-Game Season Sweep Of The Yellowjackets

The win is the first of the 2026 calendar year for the Cobbers and gives CC a sweep in the 3-game series with the Yellowjackets this season. Concordia has now won four of its last six games and is 5-8-0 on the year.
After skating through a scoreless first period, senior Morgan Sauvageau opened the scoring sheet when she netted her third goal of the year at the 6:47 mark of the second stanza. Memphis Mertens and Addie Moos had the assists on the play where CC had pulled goalie Abby Huselid after Superior had been whistled for a penalty.
UW-Superior (1-12-1) tied the game midway through the period with an even-strength goal at the 11:00 mark.
The game would stay deadlocked at 1-1 until the final 5:00 of the middle period. First-year defender Teagan Ruprecht scored her first collegiate goal to give Concordia a 2-1 lead with 4:53 left in the period. Madilyn Skogman earned the first of her two points in the game as she was credited with the assist on the play.
The Yellowjackets tied the game for the second time in the eighth minute of the third frame but then Anna Nelson gave the Cobbers the lead for good when she netted the game-winning goal only 59 seconds later.
Mertens recorded her second assist of the game. Kylie Huseth also got credit for a helper which gave both players five assists for the year.
Skogman would finish off the score line when she posted CC's fourth goal of the game. She claimed her first goal of the year with 1:15 left to go in regulation. Siena Kropp earned her second assist of the season on the play.
Concordia finished the game by outshooting the Yellowjackets 39-31.
Huselid came away with 29 saves to record her fourth win of the year.
The Cobbers will return to MIAC this weekend when they head to Duluth to take on St. Scholastica in a 2-game series on Jan. 16-17.
