Top 5 Finishes Abound At The NDSU Spring Classic
The Cobbers went across the Red River and competed at the annual NDSU Spring Classic and turned in several Top 5 finishes at a meet that featured NCAA Division I and II squads.
FARGO, N.D. (4/12/26)---Concordia stayed close to home for their first full team meet in two weeks.
The Cobbers went across the Red River and competed at the annual NDSU Spring Classic and turned in several Top 5 finishes at a meet that featured NCAA Division I and II squads.
The top finish for the Cobbers came from NCAA Indoor Championship Meet participant Kyla Nygaard, who continued her early-season outdoor success by winning the event with a time of 2:13.75. Her winning time is No.2 in the MIAC this season and in the Top 30 of Division III.
Nygaard also anchored the Cobbers' 4x400 relay which finished second with a conference-leading mark of 3:56.44. Nygaard was joined by Josie Brown, Emma Norton, and Emma Warner as they recorded the No.8 time in school history.
CC also had success in the 4x100-meter relay. The quartet of quartet of Brynley Coleman, Emily Rengo, Piper Osborne, and Andie Sandman clocked a 48.49 and placed third. Their time is also No.3 in the MIAC this season and second fastest in school history.
Concordia showed depth in the distance events which included the 5,000 meters, where the Cobbers went 2-3-4-5-6. Brooklyn Hart led the way with a runner‑up finish in 19:04.93, while Lilly Dickinson, Alayna Neu, Amelia Rowley, and Ashlyn Dibble followed closely behind.
The Cobbers also made an impact in the 3,000‑meter steeplechase, as sophomore Kelyn Henry-Perlich placed third in 11:37.28 while freshman Mallory DeVries was ninth. Henry-Perlich's finishing time is third fastest in the MIAC this season.
In field events, Rengo finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 17-02.75. She also placed seventh in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 25.80. Her time is No.5 in the conference.
Concordia's throwers were led by Genevieve Gruba, who posted a MIAC-leading distance of 125-01, and Ellie Welch, who came through with a Top 5 MIAC mark in the discus at 126-10.
Genevieve Dabout and Miranda Travis also posted MIAC Top 5 marks in the shot put. Dabout posted a distance of 40-11.5 and Travis was close behind at 40-06.00. Teammate Chloe Mueffelmann had the best finish in the event with a distance of 40-11.50.
The Cobbers finished off the meet on Monday with a 2-4 finish in the heptathlon. The Lauren Duo of Lauren Pearson and Lauren Selle both posted season-best marks in the multi-event. Pearson finished second in the event with 4,210 points and Selle was fourth at 4,164 points.
Pearson is now second in the MIAC and Selle is in the No.3 spot.
Concordia may, or may not, be participating in the CSB Invitational on Thursday, Apr. 16 at 4 p.m.
